The Great Car Museum Tour
Drive to Bowling Green, Ohio, via Lockport Covered Bridge
Sunday, July 17, 2006
Checking out some squiggly lines on a map, I ended up heading northeast on County Road 40a from Auburn. After crossing the state line into Ohio, the road was now state route 249. Joining up with SR-2, I headed more north, I think. It was a beautiful drive through Ohio farm country.
Around Stryker, in Williams County, I saw a small sign pointing to a covered bridge, which turned out to be the Lockport Covered Bridge. Well worth the detour (well, the whole day’s drive was a detour) for this surprise... a relatively new bridge. Opened in 1999, it honors an old covered bridge that was there in the 1860s and replaced a more modern bridge that wasn’t so modern any more.
