  • Take State 94 from State 125 junction east to Campo Road.

  • Right at Campo Road.

  • Left at Barrett School House Road.

  • Continue onto Barrett Smith Road.

  • Left onto Campo Road (Highway 94).

  • Optional Tecate, Mexico visit: Right at State 188 to border.

  • Potrero Park: Left at Potrero Valley Road, right at Potrero Park Road.

  • Left at Ribbonwood Road to Interstate 8 and return to San Diego.

Parks, Museums, and Places To Visit

  • Simpson’s Garden Town Nursery, 12925 Highway 94, Jamul, (619)669-1977. This 25-acre nursery has a wide assortment of plants, plus antique cars, travel trailers, and other goodies throughout. Two car barns have restored vehicles ranging from the Model T Ford to AMC Pacer. Car clubs and other activities are scheduled most weekends. By the way, Simpson’s denies it Haas phone number; above listing gives a recorded message only.

  • Pacific Southwest Railway Museum,31123-1⁄2 Highway 94, Campo, (619) 478-9937. Train rides on weekends, plus railroad memorabilia is on display at the original San Diego and Arizona Railroad depot. See Web site for rail fan trip schedule.

  • Motor Transport Museum, 31949 Highway 94, Campo, (619) 478-2492.A private antique truck museum; call for operating hours.

  • Potrero County Park,24800 Potrero Park Dr., (877) 565-3600. Pleasant county facility offers RV hookups and tent camping, picnicking, and other day uses. www.sdcounty.ca.gov and search for park.
