Cruising Old Highway 101

It’s been called “one of the three great road trips in America…” and it’s right in San Diego County.

Old U.S. 101 — the original coast route from San Diego to Los Angeles. Take the trip with Weekend Driver through the towns north of San Diego… from Torrey Pines, through Del Mar, Solana Beach, Cardiff-By-The-Sea, Encinitas, Leucadia, Carlsbad and Oceanside.

It’s a route that retains much if its “Blue Highways” charm and is still part of vibrant communities. Plus, it’s right on the coast, something that Route 66 can’t claim, except in Santa Monica, Calif.
